Can’t Live Without IESPELL
I’m an OK speller. Not a great speller but I can hold my own. My grasp of the English language is simple so I don’t need to be a great speller. However, I am not a very good typist and I need to spell check to mostly correct my typing errors and that’s where IESPELL comes in handy. If you’re using MS WORD or a text editor or even a blog editor you have a spell check program handy. But what about when you complete a web form or make some comments on a blog entry like this one? Wouldn’t it be nice to have an easy to use spell check program?
ieSpell is a free Internet Explorer browser extension that spell checks text input boxes on a web page. It should come in particularly handy for users who do a lot of web-based text entry (e.g. web mails, forums, blogs, diaries). Even if your web application already includes spell checking functionality, you might still want to install this utility because it is definitely much faster than a server-side solution. Plus you get to store and use your personal word list across all your applications, instead of maintaining separate ones on each application.I couldn’t live without this little application. All I do is right click within a web form or text form and select Check Spelling.
The program installs as a new button in the IE toolbar (as well as a new menu item under “Tools”) – after filling in a form, just hit the ieSpell button and it pops up a dialog, similar to the MS Word spell check. ieSpell also works (right-click menu only) on other IE based browsers such as SlimBrowser, CrazyBrowser, MSN, MyIE, etc.Best of all, it’s free.
