What’s Been Happening?

I can’t believe its been a week or so since I last posted to the blog. This is coming from the guy that usually posts several times per day. If you’re like me, its been extremely busy the past few weeks. Each year I promise myself that I will savor the holidays and enjoy them. And this year, like all the other years has been nothing but relaxing and enjoyable.

I have been working hard on my Ebay business. Maybe between KZION and Ebay I can make a decent living. I received some CD’s into the studio. I got the new Voice Male CD called HIMS II. I haven’t listened to it but it looks awesome. I also received the new Live CD from Paul Cardall. I purchased a 1991 copy of Michael Dowdles CD From The Hip and I also purchased a 1983 copy of You’re Not Alone by Michael McLean. I’m slowly building my vintage LDS music collection.

I’ve also been dealing with some Windows 2000 problems. I installed a software product and since then my OS has been operating strange. I scanned for viruses and spyware but no resolution. I really don’t want to reformat.

That’s about all that’s been happening here. Happy Holidays!

Stats Are Not Accurate

My stats provider has issues with their database and software and so the number of listeners is not going to be accurate. It’s so messed up. They will freeze at the same number for hours at a time and then all of a sudden update. Looks like I have to live with it until next year sometime!! Sheesh…

Bulging At The Seams

Wow, the extra capacity I added on Friday didn’t last long. I just checked the stats and all servers are completely full! I just called up and added another 10 listeners. I don’t know where everyone is coming from, but welcome.

Added More Bandwidth

The server has been filling up more often than I’d like. I was hoping to wait until after the first of the year to add additional capacity to the radio server. I’d hate to see people not be able to connect during the holidays so I went ahead and added another 20 listeners.

What’s Wrong With You, Justin and April Summers?

deseretnews.com | Soldier’s family facing eviction

This is ridiculous. Tis the season of giving, love, compassion, and charity.

On the day before Thanksgiving, Linda Dexter answered a knock on her door. A Utah County constable was waiting on the porch to serve an eviction notice. The family of six now must vacate the rented home they once hoped to make a permanent residence.

Linda Dexter is a mom of 4 and her husband is serving in Iraq. Her landlord raised her rent from $1,050 to $1,500 which they cannot afford right now and so 10 daye before Christmas they will be evicted.

“We can’t buy the house because the appraisal isn’t as high as the asking price ($154,900),” Dexter said. “Financially it’s been tight, but I’ve never been late on the rent. I’ve managed properties, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a better tenant than me.”

Dexter said she’s paid the $1,050 for November but doesn’t have the other $450, the amount that is in arrears and being used to justify her eviction.

Dexter believes the landlords raised the rent to create a loophole around the $1,200 rent threshold in the relief act.

Linda is hoping the Military JAG will step in and provide relief under the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act of 1940 which provides protection from eviction if the rent is under $1,200.

Linda’s husband is a National Guardsman, and so I’m sure they’re living on a lot less then what they are used to.

Landlords, Justin and April Summers, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Not only are you knocking someone down when their husband is serving our country in Irag, but you’re doing it during the season of giving. Scrooge is alive well and living in Utah.

It’s Been Crazy

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. I sure did. Ate too much, but that was to be expected. I moved my retail store to another location so that took up a lot of my four day holiday vacation. I consolidated my business by moving all my retail business to a quasi third partner, leaving me more time to build the business and outside sales. Shelly wasn’t, and still isn’t, too thrilled with closing down my store and moving everything over to another partner. But I was spending too much time sitting in a retail store.

Enough of that. I also worked on KZION. I added a KZION chatroom. I have wanted to have a chat room for a couple of years but never had the time or the patience to learn how. The chatroom can be accessed from the homepage. I have installed a trivia game that runs 24/7 and even keeps score. I also gave Mike the responsibility to announce song information and accept requests in the chatroom. I hope that it will enable me to give better listener support. The chatroom is open 24 hours a day. Of course I’m not going to be in there 24 hours a day, but whenever possible.

I also scheduled all the Christmas concerts through the end of the year. Check the calendar if you’re interested. What else did I do? Did I mention I ate a lot? Oh, I ordered like a set of 200 knives on the Home Shopping Network. I have no idea why I did that but it was a great deal. Hopefully I can sell them on E-bay. I haven’t told Shelly yet.

I have no idea what’s been happening in the LDS music world. I need to get back into the groove.
